What kind of medicine is metronidazole (Flagyl ER)?
Flagyl belongs to antibiotic group. It's main goal is to fight against body's bacteria. Bacterial infections of the skin, joints, respiratory tract, vagina and stomach can be treated with metronidazole. Flagyl ER is useless for vaginal yeast infection.

Several important facts to remember about metronidazole (Flagyl ER)
You should complete full course of treatment for better results. The symptoms can be intensified before the full recovery of infection. Flagyl ER (metronidazole) is not effective against cold, flu or other viral infections. Drinking alcohol during and for at least 3 days after taking Flagyl ER is not recommended. Sickness, emesis, tingly feeling, palpitation, redness or warmth under skin are metronidazole's side effects.

For safe metronidazole's usage with the presence of one or several previous diseases, it is required to pass special tests or strict dose regulation.
Nursing baby can be harmed by metronidazole from breast milk. If you are nursing mother consult with specialist before taking this drug.
